Developing a ground breaking lunch food hall for Danske Bank for Kerb
Project type
Market Study & Food Hall Development
Location
Copenhagen, Denmark
In early 2024 we supported Kerb, Compass and Danske Bank with developing and launching a ground breaking lunch food hall in the Bank’s new HQ in Copenhagen.
Kerb is a market-leading operator of food halls, including the highly successful Seven Dials in London. In 2023 they were asked by Compass, who is an investor in Kerb, to launch and operate an internal lunch food hall in Denmark’s biggest bank’s new 6000-employee headquarters in the heart of Copenhagen, which had just been won by Compass. Kerb didn’t have an operation in Denmark at that time and asked
us for support.
With insights into Danish corporate lunch culture, tax benefits, eating preferences and the offers available in the Copenhagen food scene, we helped design a concept
that was uniquely tailored to a corporate catering environment where guests will eat a main meal on a recurring daily basis – as opposed to most food halls offerings that
cater to the occasional “going out” needs. We drew up a curated longlist, morphing into a shortlist of potential local vendors, drafted a pitch document, approached
candidates, hosted tours for them in the building site and finally selected vendors.
On 1 April 2024 staff moved into the new premises from offices around Copenhagen. Instead of a traditional corporate lunch canteen they found nine vendors offering a selection of cuisine types, giving employees exactly the breadth and variety of lunch choices that was the original driver of the bank’s decision to choose this solution.
