Just Eat Takeaway UK has long dominated the local takeaway market and strengthened its leadership through landmark partnerships with major QSR brands including McDonald’s, KFC and Greggs. However, despite this scale, the platform was underperforming in the acquisition and retention of mid-market restaurant partners, a segment with strong commercial potential and high guest relevance.

THINK Hospitality were appointed to help unlock this opportunity and define a clear strategy for attracting and engaging mid-market operators. The project began with a deep dive into the competitive landscape, analysing marketplace dynamics, category trends and the actions of rival delivery platforms.

We conducted interviews with executives across multi-site fast casual, casual dining and modern London operators to uncover barriers, market perceptions and partnership pain points. These insights informed a series of strategic conclusions and guided the recommendations co-developed with the internal Just Eat Takeaway team.

The resulting strategy reshaped the company's approach to the mid-market, helping refine partner messaging, strengthen acquisition tactics and improve relational engagement. Subsequent growth included onboarding several of the operators we engaged directly and continuing collaboration on inspiration sessions and customer engagement events.
